About us
What is General Tso's Organization?
General Tso's Organization is a membership-based nonprofit. We help small business owners and family-owned restaurants modernize and grow with free one-on-one mentorship and modernization help, with digital training workshops and grant help on the way.
Our registered name is NextGen Impact Georgia Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-2122391). You may see that name on PayPal and on donation receipts.
Read our story or explore our programs.
How are you connected to General Tso's?
We were founded by Patrick Cheng and the team behind General Tso's Restaurant & Catering in Dunwoody. We are the community arm of General Tso's.
General Tso's is our founding partner. It has donated more than 19,000 meals to schools and community groups, and Patrick's experience rebuilding it shapes our programs.
Who started General Tso's Organization, and why?
Patrick Cheng and the team behind General Tso's Restaurant & Catering. Patrick, a Chinese-American entrepreneur, is the Founder & CEO of General Tso's and Director of Operations of NextGen Impact Georgia. In 2020 he bought a struggling restaurant and rebuilt it with free training, better systems and AI tools.
He and his team started this nonprofit to help other owners do the same, especially owners who face language or cultural barriers. Read Patrick's story.
Is it only for Chinese restaurants?
No. Patrick's story starts in a Chinese restaurant, but our programs are for small business owners and family-owned food businesses from every background. Today our team can help in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Where are you located?
We are based in Duluth, Georgia, and we serve owners in metro Atlanta and communities across Georgia. Our upcoming workshops will run on Zoom as well as in person, so you can join from wherever you are.

Membership
Is membership really free?
Yes. Small business owners get free membership until 2028. There are no dues.
Join free online.
Who can join?
Membership is for small business owners and family-owned food businesses in Georgia, such as restaurants, caterers, food trucks and bakeries.
Not sure if you qualify? Ask us. We welcome questions from any small business owner.
What do members get?
Free one-on-one help, by appointment, through mentorship and advisory and modernization and AI support.
Members also hear first about our workshops, our grant program and our newsletter, which are all on the way.
Do I need to speak English well to join?
No. We started this network for owners who face language barriers. Our team can help in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. If another language is easiest for you, tell us and we will do our best to find help.

Programs
What are the Digital Training & SEO Workshops?
Monthly workshops on Zoom and in person are starting soon. They will cover Google Business Profiles, search visibility (SEO), online ordering, delivery apps and digital marketing. Until then, we help owners with these one on one.
We will post workshop dates on our events page. Join free to hear first.
Do workshops cost anything?
No. Our workshops will be free for members, and membership is free until 2028.
Can you get me a grant?
No one can promise a grant. We are building a free grant program for independent restaurant owners: help finding grants that fit your business, checking if you qualify and guidance on the application. It is in development now, and members will hear first when it opens.
Be careful with anyone who guarantees a grant in exchange for a fee.
How does mentorship work?
Through Restaurant Business Mentorship & Advisory, you get one-on-one guidance by appointment on menu pricing, costs, business development, delivery apps and day-to-day problems, in English, Mandarin or Cantonese.
We start by learning about your goals, then set up a session. A wider mentor network is in development.
What is Restaurant Modernization & AI Support?
Hands-on help, by appointment, with POS systems, delivery apps, SOPs, staff onboarding, food-safety procedures and AI tools, fitted to your restaurant.
Ready-to-use templates and guides are being developed. Ask for them and we will email you when they are ready.
Are workshops offered in other languages?
Our workshops will start in English. Workshops in Chinese and other languages are planned for later. One-on-one help is available today in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

See the partnership tiers and send us a note through the partner form.
How much does a partnership cost?
Partnership prices are not listed online. Reach out through the partner form and we will talk through the options with you.
Can we sponsor or host a workshop?
Yes. Partners can co-brand a workshop, and we welcome offers of space, speakers or expertise.
Tell us what you have in mind on the partner form.
Volunteering
How can I volunteer?
We welcome mentors, interpreters and translators, tech coaches, grant-writing helpers and event and meal crew.
Pick a role on the volunteer page and tell us when you are free.
Do I need restaurant experience to volunteer?
Not for every role. Interpreters, tech coaches and event helpers do not need restaurant experience. Mentors usually have run or worked in a food business.
How much time does volunteering take?
It depends on the role. Many roles take a few hours a month, and event help can be a single day. Tell us what fits your schedule.
Can our team volunteer together?
Yes. Event and meal crew roles are a good fit for groups. If your company wants to volunteer as a team, tell us on the partner form.
