Patrick Cheng is the Founder & CEO of General Tso's Restaurant & Catering in Dunwoody, Georgia, and Director of Operations of NextGen Impact Georgia, the nonprofit behind General Tso's Organization. A Chinese-American entrepreneur, he holds a degree in business administration, comes from a family background in food service and has more than 15 years of experience in food distribution.
In 2020, after the pandemic shut down his short-term rental business, Patrick bought a struggling Chinese restaurant in Dunwoody and rebuilt it as a high-volume catering kitchen that can produce up to 200 meals per hour from 800 square feet. After taking more than a dozen free Verizon Small Business Digital Ready courses, he upgraded his POS system, added loyalty programs and automated promotions, and used AI to create bilingual SOPs and training manuals. Average daily revenue more than doubled, and corporate catering now makes up about 70% of the business. General Tso's is certified with the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, and Fooda named it Team Player of the Year.
Patrick and his team started NextGen Impact Georgia to share that playbook with small business owners and family-owned restaurants, especially owners who face language or cultural barriers. His story has been featured by Verizon News, Empowered Entrepreneur Magazine and VoyageATL, and in 2026 he received the Eagle Award at the Georgia Business Council's Spirit of Alliance Awards.
