Who we are

This policy explains how NextGen Impact Georgia Inc., which operates as General Tso's Organization ("we", "us", "our"), handles information collected through generaltsos.org (the "website"). We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by the team behind General Tso's Restaurant & Catering, based in Duluth, Georgia.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to type into the forms on this website. Please do not send sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, bank details or payment card numbers. Depending on the form, we may collect:

  • your name, email address and phone number
  • details about your business, such as its name, type and location
  • your message and the programs or topics you ask about
  • your preferred language, skills and availability, if you join or volunteer
  • the amount you pledge, if you send a donation pledge

Server logs and spam checks

Like most websites, our hosting server keeps basic technical logs when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the date and time. We use these logs only to run the website, keep it secure and fix problems.

Our forms also use simple spam checks, such as a limit on how many messages can be sent from one connection in a short time. These checks are not used to track you.

How we use your information

We use the information you send us to:

  • reply to your message or request
  • run our programs, including membership, workshops, mentorship and grant help
  • follow up on volunteer sign-ups, partnership inquiries and donation pledges
  • send updates you asked for, such as workshop dates, grant program news and member news
  • record donations, thank donors and send receipts
  • keep the website safe and free of spam
  • meet our legal obligations

Email delivery and backup copies

When you send a form, the website emails your message to our team through our email provider. We may also send you an automatic email to confirm that we received it.

The website saves a backup copy of each form message on our hosting server, so nothing is lost if an email fails to arrive. Access to these copies is limited to our team and the companies that run these services for us.

No selling, no renting

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only:

  • with service providers that help us run the website and deliver email, such as our hosting company and email provider, and only so they can do that work for us
  • with a mentor or partner organization when you ask us to connect you, and only what they need to help you
  • when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our members, visitors or others

Cookies, analytics and ads

We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this website today, and we do not show ads. If that changes, we will update this page first and explain your choices.

The website may keep small settings in your browser, such as a paused animation, so it works the way you expect. These settings stay on your device.

Donation pledges and online giving

We do not take payments on this website. A donation pledge only tells us how much you would like to give and how to reach you.

Online gifts are made on PayPal, which handles your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details. PayPal shares with us details such as your name, email address and the amount, which we use to record your gift, thank you and send a receipt.

How long we keep information

We keep form messages, sign-ups and pledges for as long as we need them to reply to you, run our programs and keep basic records. When we no longer need them, or when you ask us to, we delete them. Donation records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Server logs are kept for a limited time set by our hosting provider.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. Email patrick@generaltsos.org and we will respond as soon as we can. We may need to confirm your identity first.

To stop getting updates from us, reply to any update email or let us know, and we will take you off the list.

Security

We use secure connections (HTTPS) and limit who can see form messages. No website or email system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email patrick@generaltsos.org and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our pages link to other websites, such as news articles, partner programs, social media, maps and giving platforms. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our programs or website change. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.

Where we operate

We are based in Georgia, in the United States, and this website is meant for people in the United States. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable U.S. law.
